Update on Media Blasters' Upcoming KAMEN RIDER Blu-ray Releases
Media Blasters has given an update on their two upcoming Kamen Rider releases.
The two-film Blu-ray collection, dubbed the Kamen Rider Dyad: Legacy Kollection, containing Kamen Rider The First (2005) and Kamen Rider The Next (2007), will be a Media Blasters Storefront exclusive. This version “will include extras that will not be on the standard edition,” and they also state “We have liner notes, special packaging, numbered and commentaries lined up,” with more info forthcoming.
Concerning their upcoming release of The Kamen Rider Trilogy: Standard Edition (due out on 04/08/25), Media Blasters has clarified it will NOT contain Kamen Rider World or the Keita Amemiya interview.
Here is their full statement:
After the announcement of the Kamen Rider Standard Edition, we got quite a bit of feed back that given the difference in price to the Elite and it still including the same BD that it was not justified to pay that much extra so we are making the following changes to the Standard Edition.
a). Kamen Rider World will be removed.
b) Amemiya Interview will be removed.
All the other features will still be on the Standard Edition BD. We apologize for this but we wanted to get this out there now so people have plenty of time to cancel orders if they wish.
This is very disappointing news. Initially, they had stated the plan was for The Kamen Rider Trilogy: Elite Kollection to exclusively contain features such as Kamen Rider World and the deluxe packaging. They later decided the Standard Edtion WOULD in fact contain World. Going back on this promise is a very bad thing, as the Limited Edtion is already sold out, and anyone who intentionally waited for the Standard Edition are now out of luck. Numerous fans have already decied this decision as “anti-consumer.” However, and this is just my personal interpretation and should not be taken as fact, based on several of Media Blasters’ responses on X, they may be hinting that World could be included on the upcoming Kamen Rider Dyad release. Also, confusingly, the listings on their storefront and Amazon still list World and the Amemiya interview as being included.
